Vansteeph Creative Design

My name is Stephan Istha. I started as a student in Aeronautical engineering in 2018. During my education to become an engineer, I have worked as a software engineer for a company specialized in the development of aircraft simulators. Aeronautical engineering provided a solid base for academic knowledge in production methods, fast prototyping, software and product development, alongside studying aerodynamics.
Working within engineering felt very natural, however there was a growing desire to work on projects with a more creativity in mind, this led me to work as a mechanical engineering within the musical/entertainment industry where I did my final graduation project as well.

Within engineering, most projects are a product of function, not necessarily of form. Working more creatively evolved into a desire for more artistic work, which started alongside my education, this was in the form of an Instagram profile called; Vansteeph.

This is where I could showcase a wide variety of projects, ranging from both technical and more artistic projects. After graduating aeronautical engineering in January of 2024, I decided to continue my pursuit in creativity at the Royal Academy of Arts at The Hague (KABK).

Following one of there semester courses until the end of the academic year. Working at the KABK helped my greatly to envision my artistic desires.

In the end, I decided that the right balance between art and engineering could be found within industrial design, which is why I started studying industrial design at the Technical University in Delft NL (TU D). Alongside my education, I will be working on building Vansteeph as a design studio focussed on more traditional product design, in which products are designed with artistic flair and authentic design.
